The same thing happened to me some time ago. It turned out that my hard disk was seriously corrupted. I lost all my data but after formatting the drive worked fine again.

I would not call myself a programmer But I do know PHP HTML Some Basic (QBasic, GWBasic) And a bit of but not enough to be useful of the C like languages (java, C++ and C) I also lookt at Python
