My ESS AudioDrive 1688 is a great card. It works with just about anything I chuck at it, from old 1990 DOS games to Windows XP.

I hope the author of Allegro would fix this problem.

Allegro isn't created by one person, but by a team. If you want to help fix it, you can try, but it's really a problem with your card - it simply isn't designed for DOS ("legacy") applications.
