I've been searching for information for a few days now and my luck hasnt really been great for finding any info on making a dos gui. Does anyone have any pointers that'll lead me to the right direction?

i think u should use djgpp as the compiler and allegro game programming library for the graphics... thats what seal is using...

Well, I can tell you that I got really far with a dos gui made in qbasic! I'm not working on it anymore, but it had some real potential. So it is possible to program in somewhat simpler languages.

i've seen a number of dos guis that were written using BASIC . and the majority of them are pretty poor to say the least, BASIC is just not a real option if u plan to produce a nice GUI.

In the future SEAL my want to come away from the rigidity of allegro and make it's own graphix standard possibly based on allegro with more advanced features but seal certainly has potential and some gui's written in BASIC can be good

dos guis in basic can't be really useful... not comparable to the ones written in C/C++... I suppose you need a lot of assembler when doing such things in basic, can't be good.

As a project in school a yeard ago I implemented the basic stuff for window management in C++, that was really exciting, since I didn't sneak-peak in SEAL or any other GUI... but the principles are the same everywhere... Actually just started implementing taskhandling in it... quite interesting, really.

Try hiting Bad Sector's homepage.
He's got a C libarary file plus demo gui
for download. It looks positively Macosish
or Gemish but it works pretty good from
what I could see of it. (disclaimer, I'm not
a programmer.)

Ummm...This was the first time I'd seen it?
That's one thing I hate 'bout these types of forums,
its almost impossible to seperate whats new from whats
old without double checking all the time (which usually
means tons of rereadig!)

I didn't know that. I'm more familiar with the
Delphi\webvelosix style forums..they're easier
to read too! Or at least Delphi was until they
decided to screw their users...
