Hi!

I managed to install and start SEAL 2.0.11 with the emu387.dxe. I set the res to 640x480x256 because the Trident graphics card can't do the 65536 color mode.
I also installed UNIVBE 5.1 (6.53 doesn't work). Now, SEAL starts and the progress bar increases (slowly but it increases ^^). After reaching about 3/4 of its max length, the screen gets messed up in the upper half, the progress bar keeps on increasing at the top of the screen, then the hard disk light goes on and the system freezes.

I looked in SEAL.DBG and saw it freezes after loading the WAV driver. So I used REGEDIT to disable all sound drivers in SEAL but this didn't work.

Well, after SFAWAV.XDL is loaded, SSCRIPT.XDL (SealScript) should be loaded. You may want to try disabling this in the registry - it is buggy.

How do I disable SSCRIPT.XDL?
I disabled everything which loaded automatically, this was only SFAWAV.XDL, SFAMOD.XDL, SFAMIDI.XDL and SFAMP3.XDL, there was no SSCRIPT.XDL.

Here is my SEAL.DBG after I disabled the Sound Drivers:

Code:

 - Start Virtual File System 1.00 ...
   - Prepare Default V Drive
   - Create Dos drives ...
   - Drive a:\ installed as /a/
   - Drive c:\ installed as /c/
 - Initializing SEAL 2.00.11

 - Start registry.

 - Install Allegro.
  System informations :
    CPU
      vendor :
      family : 3 Model : 0
      fpu : 2 mmx : 0 3dnow :0
    OS
      name :
      version : 7 revision : 10

 - Initialise drivers.

...initializing screen from registry with those parameters :
 - depth: 8 bits per pixel (256 colors)
 - width: 640
 - height: 480

Screen is ok
..initializing the virtual screen   ...initializing virtual screen
   ...initializing double buffer screen
screen and virtual screen were succesfully installed

Safe Mode also doesn't work because safe mode uses 16bpp. Can I run safe mode in 8bpp?

It'll be in SYSTEM/STARTUP/LOAD.

You may want to download the Allegro Setup program to disable sound, by the way.

This doesn't work either.

Here is a full list of the configuration:
