look at the bottom of this page: http://pmad.net/laby.php3

You will see this:

Notice about Seal 2 distribution :
Copyright violation in Seal 2.0.11 ("Seal Developers" version).
Laby and some other softwares included in this distribution (SIMP,VDEV,Solvor,TicTacTic) has been set under GPL license, wich is a violation of Point Mad orginal license statements and copyrights. Those softwares are in fact copyrighted by Point Mad (2000,2001,2002) and not "Seal Developers" and are FreeWares and not OpenSource. Your need Point Mad authorisation to distribute those softwares.

hmm.. interesting how they still think the software is pmad.. come on.. we already have this figured out, what is up with them???

I am not looking for flames.. i noticed this and just thought it might get a small laugh...

I can't really remember how we reasoed before. Can someone remind me?

Didn't pmads software get relicensed when Seal got GPL again?

For a short and dark time, SEAL wasn't GPL...

hmmm i wonder if i've got a copy of the old PMAD license anywhere, because, if you look at it, it actually granted more freedom of use for the software than the GPL

there isn't a copy of the license with any of his games, but i may have an old SEAL copy somewhere.

aha, found them http://sealsystem.sourceforge.net/files/ lets see what that license says, i remember advising Callum to relicense under GPL to protect the software.

that's the bit
"-> Source codes under this package, may be used in other products,

that's what makes all the software ok to use.

grab a copy of 2.0.10 and have a look, as far as i can tell we're ok to use any of it, and we don't even need to distribute sources

that is what is so funny, i mean.. you dont see non-opensource source included in a opensource project.. this could be because most non-opensource projects sources are not open.. but, non the less, they released it so that is that..

Those games were removed from SEAL 2.00.12 ages ago. However, at the time, we were allowed to use them for 2.00.11, so I don't see why Julien's ranting about it. We're not going to go back and delete it from 2.00.11...

Actually, what he's ranting about is that we changed the copyright to Seal Developers instead of Pmad...

Well the word was more of a description of pmad rather than you. But if you say so... Mr Green

i'd personally derive a bigger sense of pride from my work being a part of a quality opensource project under the GPL than by moaning about it and making sure no one uses it.

It's not a license violation, but a copyright violation : according to internationals statements and to GPL : you're not allowed to change the copyright of any software. If it's opensource you can add code and copyright it but not the wole software. In this case all my copyrights on my softwares have been changed. So it's a copyright violation. And also an intellectual proprety violation.

julien is right about the copyright header though... the license states that everything we already know is allowed, but change the header, and that's exactly what happend...
