I have found very intersting topic:
http://sealsystem.sourceforge.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1010

It's about why seal won't succed - it claims - because it has no maintainer.
But now we have. Now we can have a success.

Also it speaks about a new dimension. (3D GUI)
That will be possible using Crystal Space.

Java is a good idea, 3d GUI maby (my opinion), but we must get the basics down first.

BTY: i did make a 'mail' sending and delevering system that can be used in a threaded enviroment. (it may be premitive)

Has any one thought of using a C++ to C conveter in Seal? (for compiling)

UPDATE:
Ha any body thought of implimenting a LCARS dektop for Seal? (I'm a Star Trek(R) fan)

Why convert C++ to C? Since Seal is written in C you can write C++ programs for it...

just do:

Code:

extern "C" {
#include <seal.h>
}

and then you'll be able to use SEAL's C functions in your C++ code.

I think that a C++ wrapper library for SEAL's windowing functions (something like what MFC is for Win32 API) could be good for C++ freaks . But for the moment let's first make SEAL itself...
[/code]

Well I looked at the force source code. All I can really say is that I can't read it (not uncommon, can't read much 3rd party source code ). Well if you manage to get it going I will help as much as possible. What should happen to my sources (see my other post in s3 development)?

They work together without no problems but PDMLWP makes the system very unstable. The whole library is buggy. You wont get much out of it. Trust me.

I have started messing around with badsectors idea with using TheForce as the seal 3 starting point and I think it can be done. I do not think that any of the Seal 2 apps will end up running on the new seal 3 if its done that way, but oh well. 2004 will be a new year and a new year for Seal Production. Any ideas

I have followed Seal since its starting point Uniforms.... Seal 1.... Seal 2... I think everything can be done better if we start a better way to oraninze the code. So we dont end up making a mess out of the Seal code which happened with Seal 2. We should devide into teams.

Webmaster (Project Maintainer) I would be willing.
Kernel Coding (Start with TheForce Code)
Module Coding... MP3...WAVE....Ect
Drivers (Work with the Kernel team)
App Coding...

Plus we should have a submaintainer for each of the sections.

Any other thoughts email me at starvbasic@insightbb.com

WebmasterNC: Please do not take this the wrong way: There will be only ONE that maintains the sealsystem if I`m going to contribute in any way, and this is BadSector.
please read all of the thread (once again?) and see what He does try to do.

I like he`s approach, and even if I have a little project on my own on the side, I will support BS any way I can, and will love to contribute if he does desire what I can provide.

But this goes for a SEAL under the BadSector-management, and only that.

I do not belive in having dozens of submaintainers, because that is only going to be a very messy affair, and seal will once again suffer from what it has done in the past.

It was just an idea thats all...... Yes I do feel Badsector would do a better job then I would, but the project maintainer needs to be around.

I think it will fix more problems making a new version of Seal. If the Project Leaders (submaintainers) of a certain section are not showing up online or not doing anything there replaced. Unless they commuacate up front what is going on.

ScummVM, wonderful piece of software. It's nice being able to play Monkey Island on Linux, and Windows with sound (what with these modern sound cards that use software MIDI synthesizers, a lot of DOS games go quiet - althouh VDMSound rectifies that).
