Anyone know if Allegro supports GForce FX cards?

Radeons work fine in linux http://www.ati.com/support/driver.html see the linux option? click that. Then you see Radeon series, FireGL and Mobile. Click appropriately.

heh, just because the drivers exist doesn't mean to say they're any good

and, they aren't...

as for choosing between FireGL and mobile, most users will probably want to try "Graphic driver", unless they happen to have a laptop or FireGL board...

They work fine for me. The really older ones (6months or so) worked fine for me when I had my Radeon. I got a really cheap (as in cost) FireGL X-1 on an auction. As in $250 Australian w00t and the FireGL drivers work fine too.

Wasn't sure wether to do with GForce or Radion card for Linux, both seem to have the odd problem so I just picked the one they had at the store and it was a GForce FX.

Thanks for the help

Should work great. The nVidia drivers for linux are really good. I am running an Athlon XP with a GeForce 3 (at the moment) with Linux and I can run tons of DirectX games fine in WineX. I just use the CVS version because I am cheap.

only if it does Vesa well enough, i don't doubt that it does, but no one's actually tested as such.

Maybe we should write an interface to directly interface with the linear framebuffer?
