The internet for SEAL topic is almost as old as SEAL itself... During the years almost nothing happend... i think Pablo was doing sockets for dos and stuff but i also remember he claimed that he had ported wine to seal.... well i cant say that he is a liar about the sockets but anyway we haven't seen anything of it...

Though WATTCP is very interesting we need a PPP dialer that can do CHAP and so on... And guess what I just found! LSPPP a dos dialer! Look at: http://members.tripod.com/~ladsoft/lsppp/index.htm

I can guarranty you that is 99% sure that AbsoluteSEAL will have internet support for dialup connections using the SLIP, IP and TCP protocols (not UDP yet, sorry).

I just looked closer to it, and it seems like it isn't distributed with the source... But maybe he will make them available for us...

To add multitasking (I mean _real_) maybe we should look at dos extenders that does the job and offers som interrupts so its possible to program for them... then SEAL actually would have multitasking...

It was Callum who said he was porting WINE to SEAL, not Pablo.

By the way, why wasn't it possible to port?

1. Please do not shout, swear or in general, be rude.
2. It might be possible for someone with more experience in assembly language to port it, so just because you failed, don't attack other people.

Personally, I think that Kostas's Internet support looks quite promising...

The reason was because NASM/GAS do not have some keywords that are a built in feature of TASM.

It is like trying to use goto(x,y); in Turbo C or Microsoft C. It just doesnt work!

I presume you mean gotoxy(). If so, then it's really not hard to write a function to do that. Anyway, as I said some months ago, gas uses the AT&T syntax which is very different from the Intel syntax. But anyway, we've already been through all that several times...

I don't know whether Kostas's Internet support will be used in SEAL 2.0 - I hope so.

Did anyone actually ever port WINE or have any success with any parts of it trying to port it to SEAL?
