Well, for now, I will just let that problem over to the programmer. I will port GCC sometimes, but for now my priority isn't porting GCC.

However, I set up a change-log in order for everyone to follow the DaNoOS project (webpage looks like nothing):
http://home.planet.nl/~esch0090

A nicer webpage will be there soon

I WILL port gcc, but however, not every app needs to be written in C, you can also write in ASM. For now, I need to kill bugs, add device support, and make it more userfriendly

Update:

I completed the programming manual on how to program for DaNoOS. biggyp, in there you can find specific information about using C.

However, the site looks quite nice doesn't it?

Ehm guys, 0.1 is freely available for download. It hasn't got much features yet (wait for 0.2 if you want features) and 0.1 Plus! will be available soon!

Please give me comments, anything

from the site:
Quote:
Version 0.1 is available from the download section, however, it is still very basic, not supplied more advanced things like a filesystem...

erm, for an OS a filesystem is the most basic stuff... not the advanced. You can say that multitasking is one of the advanced stuff, but actually is not that hard.

Quote:
We're still working very hard on the devolopment and hoping to one day grow to sizes like the great OS'es.
Maybe someday we will the first one with breaking technologies in OS programs.

dreams... dreams...

i'm not blaming you about these dreams, i had them too before... now i know that when i'm making something like that (os, gui, etc) i'm making it for me and 2-3 other people... and i'm not reffering to me as "we" (...i'm not that fat...)

Quote:
DaNoOS does feature (version 0.2 beta):
(blah)
* It is fast(er than Windows)
* More stable than Windows.

why anyone compares his/her own OS with Windows? Ok, you may can do that when you're talking to other, but i don't think that is good to do that to your site or documentation. It is childish...

Quote:

* Basic filesystem, not yet tested.

err... i think that before you place a 'feature' to your site, you should test it before and see that works, at least in a certain point.

now i must say that seems that you haven't surfed the net a lot . Why am i saying that? Well, since you're eyeballs has popped out () with the design of your site, i can easylly assume that you haven't saw almost any other site (or you like to surf on the most bad designed sites). In order to make it clear: your site's design sucks. I could make a better one in some minutes which would be a LOT better, but i'm not going to do that since i'm usually paid for such stuff (web design+web developing) and you don't seem to have much money for this...

About your OS, i can't see it right now and when i see it i'll write my comments. Note that i don't care if your next version has more abilities, i'm going to comment the version that you have posted on your site. Except, of course, if you post the newer version. I'm saying that in order to prevent comments like "keep in mind that this is not the real DaNoOs" or similar which say that you've made progress. Since i can't see them, i don't comment them.

not correct: what whould you think of a shell, and keep in mind THAT I AM JUST DOING THIS FOR MY FUN!! So wtf can it interest me if it has a filesystem..and this is only the first version. Do you think SEAL's first build was complete with all things? Don't think so..you guys where just trying.

Quote:
and you don't seem to have much money for this...
Since when do you know about my money positions? Don't think so..except if you are the director of my local bank.
And I am happy with the site design as it is right now. I dont need all such sites with large designs, and everything. PLEASE NOTE, THAT THE SITE IS JUST THERE MEANT AS LOGBOOK.

[sarcastic]You're really quite optimistic about a first build. I am thanking you for all nice comments you gave me. [/sarcastic]

In TWO points I agree with you; about the OS that will have breaking technologies. It wasn't right, but it wasnt written by me. I removed it. Also, you were right about that Windows, but that was not written by me either.

Yours,
DaNo

BadSector I noticed a bug in your code
"Hello, world!n"
dont you mean "Hello, world!\n"
and you dont realy need " return 0; "

The following example would work just fine

main()
{
printf("Hello, world!\n");
}

maybe you should check your own stuff before you criticize others.

could you program a OS as good or better then DaNo ?

i think the \ backslash was probably stripped out by the forum or the database, as for his code using return 0, it works so whats the problem? it wouldn't suprise me if he had written an OS of some description at some point, he's written just about everything else.

i like the look of this one

Code:
#include "stdio.h"
#define e 3
#define g (e/e)
#define h ((g+e)/2)
#define f (e-g-h)
#define j (e*e-g)
#define k (j-h)
#define l(x) tab2[x]/h
#define m(n,a) ((n&(a))==(a))

long tab1[]={ 989L,5L,26L,0L,88319L,123L,0L,9367L };
int tab2[]={ 4,6,10,14,22,26,34,38,46,58,62,74,82,86 };

main(m1,s) char *s; {
    int a,b,c,d,o[k],n=(int)s;
    if(m1==1){ char b[2*j+f-g]; main(l(h+e)+h+e,b); printf(b); }
    else switch(m1-=h){
        case f:
            a=(b=(c=(d=g)<<g)<'<g)<<g;
            return(m(n,a|c)|m(n,b)|m(n,a|d)|m(n,c|d));
        case h:
            for(a=f;a=e)for(b=g<<g;b<n;++b)o[b]=o[b-h]+o[b-g]+c;
            return(o[b-g]%n+k-h);
        default:
            if(m1-=e) main(m1-g+e+h,s+g); else *(s+g)=f;
            for(*s=a=f;a<e;) *s=(*s<<e)|main(h+a++,(char *)m1);
        }
}

though it doesn't work, with pacific at any rate.

I haven't tried compiling your application, but try this. You'll be surprised!

Code:

#include <stdio.h>
main(t,_,a)char *a;{return!0<t?t<3?main(-79,-13,a+main(-87,1-_,
main(-86,0,a+1)+a)):1,t<_?main(t+1,_,a):3,main(-94,-27+t,a)&&t==2?_<13?
main(2,_+1,"%s %d %d\n"):9:16:t<0?t<-72?main(_,t,
"@n'+,#'/*{}w+/w#cdnr/+,{}r/*de}+,/*{*+,/w{%+,/w#q#n+,/#{l+,/n{n+,/+#n+,/#\
;#q#n+,/+k#;*+,/'r :'d*'3,}{w+K w'K:'+}e#';dq#'l \
q#'+d'K#!/+k#;q#'r}eKK#}w'r}eKK{nl]'/#;#q#n'){)#}w'){){nl]'/+#n';d}rw' i;# \
){nl]!/n{n#'; r{#w'r nc{nl]'/#{l,+'K {rw' iK{;[{nl]'/w#q#n'wk nw' \
iwk{KK{nl]!/w{%'l##w#' i; :{nl]'/*{q#'ld;r'}{nlwb!/*de}'c \
;;{nl'-{}rw]'/+,}##'*}#nc,',#nw]'/+kd'+e}+;#'rdq#w! nr'/ ') }+}{rl#'{n' ')# \
}'+}##(!!/")
:t<-50?_==*a?putchar(31[a]):main(-65,_,a+1):main((*a=='/')+t,_,a+1)
  :0<t?main(2,2,"%s"):*a=='/'||main(0,main(-61,*a,
"!ek;dc i@bK'(q)-[w]*%n+r3#l,{}:\nuwloca-O;m .vpbks,fxntdCeghiry"),a+1);}
