what are your systems hardware specs?

as for CubeOS, it's only major change is that it includes the software we've been asked by the copyright holder to remove and wont run SEAL2 apps, no other changes that i've identified...

I have a Cyrix 6X86 P200 processor, on a CyberMax computer running Win98 2nd edition, with 98m memory and an Ensoniq AudioPCI sound card. Let me know if you need any more info.

Gary.

Cube supports a number of sound cards, including the following:

- Sound Blaster 1.0
- Sound Blaster 1.5
- Sound Blaster 2.0
- Sound Blaster Pro
- Sound Blaster 16
- ESS AudioDrive
- Ensoniq Soundscape
- Windows Sound System

The following MIDI devices are also supported:

- Adlib (autodetect OPL version)
- OPL2 FM synth
- Dual OPL2 (SB Pro-1)
- OPL3 FM synth
- raw SB MIDI interface
- MPU-401 MIDI interface
- DIGMID software wavetable
- AWE32

DIGMID uses a PATCHES.DAT file to provide software MIDI. See http://alleg.sourceforge.net/
for a list of various PATCHES.DAT files you can use.

i thought his problem was that Cube/SEAL2 wasn't starting, not that he needed MIDI support.

users have in the past experienced problems with PCI sound cards and SEAL2, i have no idea what the problem could be other than that, you may wish to try http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/sealsystem/alleg-setup.zip and see if it will work then.

The PCI Sound card problem has been present since Seal 1.0. I think it's a problem with Allegro. That's why I'm proposing using a different Sound library for Seal 3.0.

To get into SEAL, setting the sound and MIDI drivers as nothing, add/edit the following in ALLEGRO.CFG:

Code:

[sound]
digi_card = 0
midi_card = 0

That should do the trick.
