SEAL is already independant of MS. Just run it on FreeDOS if you don't want to use any MS associated software.

As for becoming a complete Windows clone, that is outside the scope of this project. The intent here is just to create a well-designed, functional GUI and application development framework that runs on DOS, as well as other OSes in the future, and supports such things as networking. If you want a completely binary compatible Windows clone then look into ReactOS, which is meant to be a complete Windows NT clone that will support all of NT's drivers, games, and applications.

what you apear to be missing is the fact that SEAL is only intended to be a GUI for DOS, not a total clone of windows, windows driver compatibility would be lovely, as would use of WINE, but implementing WINE on SEAL is not feasible, although if you feel you could port WINE to SEAL by all means feel free.
