It's more flexable, among other things. I can't quite remember the exact reasons - look back in the forum archive, it'll be there somewhere.

I dont see a real difference between the two. As for the AbSeal skin system is far more complete. But its really easy to do skining for every control or widget. All you do is just modify its drawing routines.
